Sara H. Scott

Sara H. Scott, age 71, passed away surrounded by her family on December 13, 2015 at Forsyth Northside Hospital, Cumming, Georgia. She was the first child born to the late Tom and Frances Roberts Hall on May 1, 1944 in Barnesville, Georgia. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Doug Scott for 52 years. They met at Berry College and were married on December 15, 1963. Sara is lovingly remembered by their three sons, Michael (Liana) Scott of Burbank, California, Kevin (Charity) Scott and Chris Scott (Melody Abernathy), of Cumming. She is further survived by 5 grandchildren: Daniel Scott of Burbank, California; Dakota, Savannah, Phoenix Scott of Cumming and Adrianna Bales of Cumming. She was also survived by two sisters, Susan Hall Allen and Tommie Lee Hall of Montezuma and nieces, nephews, and cousins. She graduated from Berry College in 1966 with a BS in business with minor in English Speech and Drama and further her studies in early childhood education. She began her teaching career at Model Elementary in Rome, Ga and moved to Montezuma where she taught at Southland Academy. After moving to Cumming, she taught 5th grade elementary at Mashburn Elementary before retiring after 25 years where she made lifelong relationships with many teachers and her students. Her integrity and warm sense of humor made her special to all. Her favorite moments were being surrounded by her family and friends. She cherished listening to her loved ones play instruments and sing especially her husband, Doug. She always encouraged her sons and grandchildren in pursuing their talents whether it be music, sports or medicine. She also enjoyed sharing and viewing special moments on Facebook with her family, friends and students. Her other interest were reading, playing board games, spending time with her children and grandchildren, family gatherings and attending church. Sara was a life time Christian and was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Cumming, Georgia. Visitation will be at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 9-11 a.m. with service directly following. Pastor Randy Smith and Joe Gaines will be officiating the services. All family, friends and students are invited to join in the celebration of Sara Scott's life. Flowers are welcomed or the family encourages contributions to be donated to the Kidney Foundation in her memory. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, GA is in charge of arrangements.
