It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Sara Elaine McDaniel, age 82 on September 25, 2026, following an extended illness. She was born in Cumming, GA on July 27, 1944, to the late William Sylvester McDaniel and Mary Wynelle (Whitt) McDaniel. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde McDaniel, Kenneth McDaniel, and James McDaniel.

Sara is survived by her sister, Mary Sue (McDaniel) Tribble and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of Cumming High School in 1962, Sara went on to earn an Associate Degree from Reinhardt College in 1964, a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Georgia in 1966, and a Master of Education in Elementary Education from North Georgia College in 1976. She was a resolute lifelong elementary school teacher in Gwinnett and Forsyth counties for 37 years and retired from Cumming Elementary School in 2003.

Sara was a renowned fourth grade teacher with distinguished service awards and educational leadership recognition. Upon her retirement she liked to cook, expand her extensive collection of “Gone with the Wind” memorabilia, make short trips with friends and family, but she especially liked spending time with the younger nieces and nephews and playing school. She spoiled and treated all as if they were her own children.

Sara was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. In addition, Sara supported educational programs and more at Bethelview United Methodist Church.

The family thanks the staff at Cumming Health and Rehab for their compassionate care during Sara’s extended illness.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 1 pm at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nicky Gravitt officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the funeral home from 11 am till time of Service.
