Sally (Mangas) Jamieson, age 88, of Marietta, GA passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in Smyrna, GA. She was born on July 17, 1937, in Waterloo, IA. She was the oldest of five children born to Lois and Lee Mangas. Raised in Greene, IA, and then moving to Waterloo IA, she there met the love of her life. Roger and Sally were married in Waterloo on August 23rd, 1957.
Sally and her loving husband served together in ministry through Roger’s role as a local pastor in Ponca City and Alva Oklahoma for five years and then continuing their ministry when Roger enlisted as an officer into the Armed Forces as an Army Chaplain. They served in the Armed Forces for 20 years. Sally had always dreamed as a young girl to one day travel the world. Being in the military, those dreams were lived out as she and Roger had that opportunity to travel and live around the world. Sally loved helping in children’s ministry by teaching children about the Bible. One tool that she loved to use in telling stories of the Bible to children was using visual characters and scenes through Flannelgraph in Sunday school and Jr. Church, which she led for many years. She and Roger also loved singing in the choirs at church or solo specials when there was the opportunity.
Professionally she worked for 25 years as a registered nurse in the psych wards in several VA Medical Hospitals as well as several years as a school nurse after her retirement. She absolutely loved and dedicated her life to helping and serving others. She was an amazing woman who cared for others with compassion and love no matter who they were or what they were going through.
Sally deeply loved her family. There was nothing she loved more, than raising her three children, and later 10 grandchildren to know and love Jesus. She demonstrated this throughout her life and was always such an example of what it was to love others as Christ loved us. She took on many roles with engaging in the life of her children and grandchildren, whether it was taking a trip, vacation, or planning games or activities for everyone to do together. Sally will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile and love for Jesus and His light she reflected to all of those she knew, and if you’ve never made the decision to make Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life, we hope you will make that decision today.
Sally was an avid lover of history. She loved history books and encyclopedias and always was quick to grab one when she wanted to know more information about anything she was curious about. She read many books, news articles and literature. Sally was always eager to learn and was forever a scholar.
Sally also loved and spent most of her spare time writing cards to family and friends and praying daily for them. You knew she was thinking about you when she would make a phone call to check in with you or bring over a meal just to bless you or help if you were going through a rough time. Spending time in the kitchen cooking for her family and taking care of the home so faithfully, was a passion of hers. There was never a time we didn’t have a well-balanced meal and a little ice cream or dessert to satisfy a sweet tooth.
Her and Roger’s generosity in supporting many missions and Christian organizations reached thousands for Christ. She gave of herself and generously gave of all that God blessed her with in this life. Her beautiful legacy will always be remembered and treasured and will live on through her greatest joy of her family.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Roger Jamieson of Marietta, GA. Together they raised three children; Teresa (Bruce) Hogarth of Marietta, GA, Greg (Sharon) Jamieson of Greenville, SC; Cheryl (Brad) Kehn of Fostoria, OH. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Kyle (Elisabeth Kirkland) Hogarth, Braden (Liz) Hogarth, Zachary Hogarth, Ryan Hogarth, Colton (Jessica) Jamieson, Sarah (Nicholas) Gonzalez, Autumn Kehn, Hunter Kehn, Grace Kehn, Elliana Kehn; her siblings Laura (Richard) Gaddis and Kathy (Jim) McMullen; and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Lee Mangas, mother Lois Mangas, brother Bill Mangas, and brother Bobby Mangas.
