Sheila A Cumberworth

Shelia Ann Cumberworth, 65 passed away on Tuesday, December 18th. She was born September 13, 1947 in Atlanta, GA, to Charles Maurice and Margaret Kirk Cumberworth. She is survived by her sister, Alice Murphy; and brother, Anthony (Nancy) Cumberworth. She leaves behind seven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews and also great, great nieces and nephews.

She served with the Atlanta Police Department for 27 years, first as a patrol officer and then as a homicide detective for 17 years. She was one of the first three female detectives assigned to the Homicide Squad. Sheila was well known among her fellow officers as a very thorough detective. She was known to friends and fellow officers as "Pickles".

Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church. 2620 Hwy 20 South in Conyers, GA on Saturday, January 5th, 2012 at 3:00 PM. Interment of the Cremains will follow at Holy spirit Monastery in Conyers with family members. In lieu of flowers, donations to our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer Home or a Hospice group of one's choice are welcome.
