Stephen “Steve” Michael Cullen, 57, of Cumming, GA, passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2025.
Born in Hartford, CT on November 7, 1967, Steve grew up in Scotia, NY and graduated from Burnt Hills High School. He later built a life rooted in unwavering love, loyalty, and strength.
Steve was many things—opinionated, protective, and strong-willed—but above all, he was a devoted family man. He cherished his 31-year marriage to his wife, Robin, and found immense pride in raising their children, Lauren and Christopher. Steve adopted Lauren before the age of 30, instantly becoming the kind of dad every daughter hopes for. He went on to coach his son Christopher through years of baseball, ultimately helping lead him to Team USA, a scholarship to the University of South Carolina, and selection in the MLB Draft. Steve’s unwavering belief in his son never wavered, and his impact as both a father and a coach lives on.
Steve was a full-time dad and part-time coach to dozens of kids who still admire him today. He had a gift for making people feel secure and capable. Whether it was ensuring his wife felt confident or making sure his kids were ready to face anything, Steve always showed up—loudly, proudly, and without hesitation.
He loved quiet evenings on the back porch playing guitar, doting on his dogs, and spending time with his family and friends. Though his opinions could be strong, so was his love.
He is survived by his wife Robin Cullen; daughter Lauren Brooks (Adam Brooks); son Christopher Cullen; mother-in-law Barbara Eubanks; his father Gerald Cullen (Elizabeth) of Scotia, NY, brothers David Cullen and Michael Cullen (Carrie) of Georgia, Kaori Ikemiya of CA, Amy Moore and Veronica Cieszynski of Scotia NY as well as his uncle Harry Cullen (Pam) of Massena, NY, Aunt Mary Anne (Cullen)Taraska of Massena NY, and cousins Adrian Taraska, Jason Taraska (Amanda), Kerry Perretta(Kevin) all of Massena, NY Greg Cullen (Greta) of Virginia, Doug Cullen (Eva) and their families. He was preceded in death by his mother Junko Ikemiya (Komesu), step-father Kiyo Ikemiya, grandparents Gerald & MaryCullen of Massena, NY, and his uncle Francis (Frank) Taraska of Massena, NY.
In honoring Steve’s wishes, there will not be a formal service. Instead, his children will arrange a celebration of life to share memories and laughter the way he would have wanted. Details to follow.
Steve’s love, guidance and presence will be missed every single day. His legacy lives on in the family he built and the countless lives he touched.
