Stephen "Steve" Dean Pruitt

Stephen Dean Pruitt, age 69, of Cumming, GA, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Steve was born on October 13, 1956, to the late Dean and Jackie Pruitt. He graduated from Forsyth County High School in 1974 and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgia State University in 1989. He worked as a tax assessor/appraiser for Forsyth County, the Georgia Department of Revenue, then Tax Management Associates out of Charlotte, NC finally returning to county government in 1995 to serve as Chief Appraiser for Gwinnett County where he retired in 2017. Post-retirement, he established his own business, Assessment Management Solutions and contracted with Fulton County. He was an accomplished businessman, a recognized member of the International Association of Assessing Officers and the Georgia Association of Assessing Officials for over 35 years. He was on the board of directors with Farm Bureau and consumer advisory task force with Sawnee EMC.

Steve took a lot of pride in being a father coaching his daughter’s softball and soccer teams when they were growing up. He was a devout Christian, and a member at Beaver Ruin Baptist Church where he loved singing, being choir director and leading songs in the church. He was an avid golfer, a huge UGA Bulldogs fan, a culinary enthusiast, and he loved to travel. Into his retired years, he spent time with his family and worked at home on the family farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dean and Jackie Pruitt, his sister Lynn Pruitt Powers and his brother Jeff Pruitt.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Bonita Fowler Pruitt; daughter Madison Pruitt Moore and her husband Josh Moore, Britain Pruitt Wilson and her husband Ben Wilson; grandchildren Avery Auensen, Ellis Hall, Chloe Moore, Bishop Moore, Benjamin Wilson Jr., and James Wilson, all adoringly called him Bubba; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 11am at Ingrams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Shadburn, Rev. Doug Carnes, Rev. Greg Rawlins, and Rev. Todd Skinner officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the funeral home from 1-4pm and 6-9pm, and Monday from 10am till time of service.
