It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Lynn Elliott Kennedy, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, on October 1, 2024, at the age of 73. Susan passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and dearest friend.
Born on June 16, 1951, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Susan was the daughter of Duane and Alice Elliott. Although she spent many years in the travel business, her passion was teaching. Known for her nurturing spirit, she made a lasting impact on countless young lives during her 15 years as a kindergarten teacher at Chattahoochee Elementary School.
Susan was a devoted wife to her husband of 26 years, Monroe “Mickey” Kennedy. Together, they created a loving home filled with laughter, music, and gatherings of friends and family. Her greatest pride and joy, however, was being a mother to her daughter, Alison Vigneault, and a doting grandmother to her two grandchildren, Laurel and Silas, who were the light of her life.
In addition to her dedication to her family and career, Susan cherished the lifelong friendships she built with her core group of girlfriends, known affectionately as “The Up North Girls.” Their bond, spanning over four decades, was a constant source of joy and support, filled with girls’ weekends, road trips, and endless laughter.
Susan’s kindness and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her husband, Mickey, her daughter, Alison Vigneault (Stephen), and her grandchildren, Laurel and Silas. She is also survived by her parents, Alice and Duane Elliott, her brothers, Brian and David Elliott, along with her treasured group of friends. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Kevin Elliott.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
