Venkata Seshamma
Kethireddy
Jul 15, 1934 — Oct 2, 2026
Alpharetta, Georgia
Smt. K.V. Seshamma was a daughter, a sister, a teacher, a gardener, a wife, a mother, a businesswoman, a grandmother, and a caretaker.
Seshamma was born in Kavali to a family of farmers. She was the first in her extended family to graduate from college, obtaining a Bachelor of Education in Nellore. She returned to Kavali after her studies and began her first role as an English teacher for children in 7th and 8th class, later expanding to Math and Physics, at the Visvodaya Girls High School. Her efforts as a teacher and, soon after, a National Cadet Corps coordinator attracted ambitious students. As a mentor, she was approachable, willing to help any parent and student who asked.
Seshamma remained in Kavali to start a family with her husband, Kotireddy, whom she first met in college and reconnected with years later. In 1967, she gave birth to her first daughter, Hema, and two years later to her youngest, Madhavi. Seshamma and Kotireddy raised their girls in a warm household that never turned away a guest. Hema and Madhavi attribute their independence to their mother, who empowered them to chart their own paths in a new country and have children of their own.
Seshamma first became a grandmother in 1992 with the birth of her eldest grandson, Yeshwanth, making her first trip abroad to Detroit to be with her daughter Hema in the delivery room. She took Yeshwanth to India with her a few months later, raising him there for a year to help ease the load on his young parents. Seshamma continued this profound effort for four more grandsons: Nihar, Pranov, Vineal, and Samir. She traveled across the world to assist with births and spent months away from home to act as a second mother. Whether through cooking wonderful dishes, giving baths, helping with schoolwork, or taking immense pride in every accomplishment, her love and care for her grandchildren knew no bounds.
Following the passing of her husband in 2008, she relocated permanently to the Atlanta area to live with her daughters and their families, embracing her new life with grace and enthusiasm. She was fiercely protective of her family and a constant source of warmth and kindness. Cherished by her sixth, furry grandson, Gunner, she maintained an upbeat, joyful presence despite her health challenges, leaving behind a legacy of boundless love for family and friends.
Smt. K.V. Seshamma is survived by her two daughters, Hema and Madhavi; her two sons-in-law, Ravi and Amar; her five grandsons, Yeshwanth, Nihar, Pranov, Vineal, Samir; and countless students.
