Vera Mae Porter

Vera Mae Porter, 92, of Gainesville passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022. Born December 12, 1929 to the late Charles and Sarah Jones, Vera Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A hard-working homemaker, she loved the Atlanta Braves, gardening and cooking. A member of Salem Baptist Church, Vera Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Porter, 5 sisters and 10 brothers.

Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Knight; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Judy Porter; siblings, Boyd Jones, Herman Jones, Mary Andrews and Harold Jones; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Nix officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
