Obituary

Veronica Esser Walton, known to friends and family as Ronnie, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones in Cumming, Georgia, on May 11, 2026. She was 90 years old.

Born and raised in Clifton, New Jersey, Ronnie grew up in a close-knit family and carried with her a deep and enduring Catholic faith throughout her life. Her faith was a quiet but steady presence, guiding her values, shaping her perspective, and providing her with comfort and strength.

In 1958, she married her husband, Ronald Walton, beginning a partnership that would span 62 years and be defined by love, loyalty, and commitment. Ronnie and Ron made their home in North Caldwell, New Jersey, where they raised their family and built enduring friendships. In 1993, they retired to Naples, Florida, embracing a new chapter filled with sunshine and relaxing times spent with family and friends.

One of Ronnie’s greatest joys throughout her life was golf. Whether playing with family or friends, she found happiness on the course - first at Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, New Jersey, and later at Bear’s Paw Country Club in Naples, Florida. Golf remained a lifelong passion and a source of joy shared with family and friends throughout the years. An avid golfer, Ronnie proudly celebrated three hole-in-ones during her lifetime.

Above all, Ronnie’s life was centered around her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Tracey (Craig) and Scott, and by her five grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda, Ashley (Matt), Thomas (Kelly), and Michael, and her great-granddaughter, Madeline. Each will carry forward her memory in their own lives.

Ronnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald; her parents, George and Helen; and her siblings, Lucille, Helen, and George.

A Funeral Mass in memory of Ronnie will be held on June 5, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Saint Benedict Catholic Church, 11045 Parsons Road, Johns Creek, Georgia. A Rite of Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Paterson, New Jersey, at a later date.

Ronnie’s family was blessed to celebrate the remarkable milestone of her 90th birthday with her and to share one final Mother’s Day together before her passing. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me and I’m not here to see, if the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me.

I wish you wouldn’t cry the way you did today, while thinking of the many things we did not get to say.

I know how much you love me as much as I love you; each time that you think of me, I know you will miss me too.

When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.

The angel said my place was ready in heaven far above, and that I would have to leave behind all those I dearly love.

So when tomorrow starts without me, do not think we’re apart; for every time you think of me, remember I’m right here in your heart.
