On May 5, 2026, Virgene Reita Goggin (Jean) passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years with her daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) Buechner at her side at Northside Hospital in Cumming, GA. She is survived by Daughters, Elizabeth (Betsy) Buechner (David spouse), Patricia Fioretti and Kathleen Nicholas (Stacy spouse). She has 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Jean was born in Crystal Lake, IL on April 9, 1933 to Carl and Clara Ohrwall. She had 3 sisters, a brother and a happy and fulfilling childhood. Jean was working at Harnishchfeger where she met her future husband Jim Goggin. Their 68 year marriage (Jim passed away in November 2022) was full of life, laughter and 3 daughters. Because of Jim’s business, they moved many times. Jean was an amazing homemaker and quickly set up homes and made many close friends. She loved to entertain, bringing people together for dinners and parties. She also was an excellent at crafts, decorating for the holidays that she so loved.

Jean became involved in the Red Hat Society and became to consummate “Queen Mum”. She organized her own chapter and loved getting the ladies together for outings. Her amazing smile and sunny disposition made her beloved to many - she will be missed. Many will count themselves lucky to have been her friend.
