Remembering Ginger Nicoletti 1936- 2013

Ginger Elaine Visel was born in NY, October 3 1936 and we suddenly lost her on June 1, 2013. She enjoyed 76 years of full and vibrant family life. Ginger moved to Freeport Long Island in 1951 and met her husband, Joe in High School. They went steady, engaged and were married three years out of high school while Joe was in the Coast Guard. Joe and Ginger moved to Columbia, SC to start Electrical Engineering and his senior year they had their first child Pete. In Morristown NJ, #2 Son Brian was born. Moving down south again, #3 David was born in Tuscaloosa Alabama where Joe got his Masters and Ginger got her PHT Putting Hubby Through at the University of Alabama. #4 Son Glenn was born in Winston Salem, NC.

Moving to Ringoes, NJ, Just off Toad Lane, Ginger and Joe raised all 4 boys from 1st grade through High School. She was extremely active in the community, as a member of the Board of Education, President of the PTA, and a very involved Little League parent of the boys team. The team that with Joe coaching, won 12 straight League Championships. She got her EMT and was a Volunteer Ambulance driver and First Responder. In Ringoes she met her lifelong friend, Etna Bonatz who is here with us today.

She always wanted to have fun. She coordinated our long trips cris-crossing the entire country in our Six Nix 22 travel trailer. Family vacations were a big deal and each summer we went to Castaways Camp Ground in Ocean City MD. Memories were created that will never be forgotten, fishing, crabbing, exploring

Settling lakeside in Cumming GA, Ginger continued to inspire and paid for all four boys to earn college degrees and start off their successful lives and families. Ginger worked at Davids company as the Head of Collections, where she specialized in collecting past due accounts. Anyone who knows Ginger, will certainly understand why she excelled at collections!
1n 1994, Joe and Ginger retired to Venice, FL. Shortly thereafter, Joe and Ginger purchased Escapade a 44 Trawler and toured the Caribbean for 5 years. They settled in Trinidad for a year. Now, with so many grandchildren, Ginger and Joe moved back to Venice, Florida. Driving between Atlanta and South Florida so many times, made them select Ocala to live as it was right in the middle. Ginger settled into a routine where she was active in the Pricilla Circle as its leader: The Sunshine Girl and offered compassion and companionship to the older folks in Ocala. She enjoyed swimming, walking, playing mahjong and visiting friends. Joe and Ginger were active travelers, cruising Europe, the South Seas and all of the Caribbean.
Attitude: She may have been short in stature, but she was a giant with her attitude. She had an opinion about everything and she was not shy about sharing it. She demanded and expected the best you could do, and if you were not doing it, she would have a couple hundred questions for you. She knew what topics you were uncomfortable talking about, but as a mother and wife, she knew that she needed to focus on those items to help make you better: school, raising kids, health, dating/marriage, weight, smoking she was always concerned and involvedand had an opinion!

Cooking: she had a lot of experience cooking for four boys so she turned into an excellent cook. She planted a large garden where she raised tomatoes and cucumbers and canned spaghetti sauce and pickles. The kids would come home every day to a home filled with a great smells: crock pot, baking bread and her homemade spaghetti sauce. She also experimented with sauerkraut, and that was her only failure! She raised pigs, sheep, and chickens and we learned together as a family how to be farmers.

Family: By force of will, a unique knack of scheduling and wanting to be at every family event brought her here to Atlanta this week. She got to spend time with Emily at the barn with Glenn and Mary, and then with Ashleigh, Brooke and Natalie.

Surviving Ginger is her devoted husband and life partner Joe, who shared 57 wonderful years together. Her four sons each raised families and she had 10 grandchildren: Peter and Jennifer with children Taylor, Grayson and Steelman, Brian and Megan with Gumba, Ryan and Colin, David and Jennifer with Brooke, Ashleigh and Natalie, and Glenn and Mary with their daughter Emily.

Ginger will be missed by her family and friends. She was taken before we were ready for her to go and well have to deal with that by sharing memories and keeping her in our thoughts and hearts forever.
