Virginia Hughes PhD

Dr. Virginia Hughes, age 98 of Athens, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014. Dr. Hughes graduated from Duke University with a P.H.D. and she taught at Clarke Central High School and became a professor of Russian History at University of Georgia, Athens. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Melvin Clyde Hughes. Virginia is survived by her children; Sam (Deborah) Hughes of San Deigo, CA, Bill Hughes of Athens, GA and many other loving relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
