William "Randy" Randall Beckham, Sr.

William Randall “Randy” Beckham, Sr., 79, of Monroe, LA and Cumming, GA passed into the arms of his savior, Jesus Christ, on June 19, 2026.

Born March 1, 1947 to Opal Leigh Cummings and Bernard Dupont Beckham, he was the youngest of their three boys. He grew up in Monroe, LA; attended and graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1966. Following graduation, Randy attended Northeast Louisiana University. After NLU, he served in the US Army as an air traffic controller and was honorably discharged several years later as a decorated Vietnam Veteran. Upon his return from Vietnam, he joined the Louisiana State Police where he held many roles as Trooper, Narcotic Division, SWAT, and Dive Team. He eventually retired from the Louisiana State Police in 1991 as a Sergeant for Troop F.

After his retirement from LSP, he worked as a claims specialist at State Farm Insurance. During this time, he enjoyed family time with his children and grandchildren; he was able to focus more on his family, who he loved dearly. Randy was so proud of all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

His many interests included a deep passion for flying. He obtained his pilot’s license, owned a small Cessna Skylane and truly enjoyed the freedom of the sky. He also had a deep love of history, especially that involving his family. Over the last decade he became even more active with his Salt and Shakers Sunday school class and men’s group at FBC Cumming, GA. He regularly attended Vietnam Veterans of America meetings as well. Randy had such a zest for life and was always up for an adventure.

He is survived by his wife of almost forty-three years, Vera Rose; son, Billy Beckham and wife, Tracie; daughter, Jennifer Beckham Bridges and husband, Lucas; daughters-in-law, Kelly Beckham and Angel Beckham; brother, Robert “Bobby” Jones and wife, Susan; sisters, Donna Tagliaferri and husband, Ray, Dotti Jones Parker, and Mikki Jones; sister-in-law, Linda Beckham; grandchildren, Cody, Haley, Storm, Trace-Marie, Diesel, Emily, Randi Lynn, Madison, Chloe, Dillon, Darcie, and Jack; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Opal Leigh; father, Bernard Beckham; step-father, Bill Jones; grandparents, Virgil and Emma Cummings; aunts, Dorothy “Dot” Cummings Durham and Betty Cummings; uncles, W.H. Sonny Durham and Benjamin Franklin “B.F.” Cummings; brothers, Bernard F. “Butch” Beckham, Jerry Beckham, and Timothy Jones; sons, William Randall “Randy” Beckham, Jr. and James Bernard “Jimmy” Beckham; niece, Eva Kristina Beckham; nephew, Ryan Rigsby; in-laws, Ruby and Justin McIver; brother-in-law, Ira McIver; and several other family members whom he adored.
