William "Shorty" Strayhorn

William "Shorty" Strayhorn, age 84 of Cumming, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Cumming. Shorty is preceded in death by his daughter, Annie L. Bragg; parents, Tate and Gennie Strayhorn; brothers, Herman, Tom, Eugene, Myron and his twin, Woodrow; sisters, Leila Shumate, Lucille Wehunt, and Hazel Melton. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, William and Susan Strayhorn of Cumming; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Larry Mooney of Gainesville; sister, Willy Mae Charles of Cumming; grandchildren, Darryl Strayhorn, Greg Strayhorn, Tony Kirby, Jason Kirby, Vickie Hamby; 6 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Barney Johns, Darryl Strayhorn and Jeff Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Friday, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
