With his devoted family by his side, William Theron Weaver, 77, of Cumming, Georgia passed peacefully from this life on July 9, 2025. His abiding faith in Jesus Christ assures Bill now lives in glory, fully free of the encumbrances of a lengthy illness.
Bill was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia - the son of Copeland and Frances (Elzey) Weaver, who have both predeceased him as has an older (infant) sister, Patricia Joyce Weaver.
A popular graduate of the Brown High School class of 1966, Bill was an excellent student who participated in ROTC, ran track/cross country, was voted “outstanding senior,” but is perhaps best remembered for his guitar playing and lead singing in his band “The Big Beats” (later called “The Epics”). Bill enjoyed a lifelong passion for music. It was his special joy to create record album covers and promotional materials for upcoming as well as established Christian artists and groups. Larnelle Harris, Sandi Patti, Al Holley, Danny Dukes, Babbie Mason and The Pat Terry Group are among the numerous artists Bill was privileged to serve. He even toured briefly with PTG and later shared office space at Twelve Oaks Recording Studio. Bill continued singing, playing his guitar and loving music, especially contemporary worship music, throughout his life.
Summers at his family’s home on Lake Lanier were spent swimming, sailing, waterskiing and, of course, fishing, one of Bill’s favorite activities. Yes, there were many “fish stories” including the infamous afternoon fishing with two high school buddies. After someone’s seemingly benign cast-off ricocheted off a tree branch, it landed directly onto Bill’s leg, embedding deeply into his calf. Bill’s friends Bob and Pat - two future doctors - attempted to dislodge the hook, but alas, a trip to the ER eventually did the trick! Bill sported a small scar on his calf as a lasting memento of the adventure. (Not sure if anyone actually reeled in a fish that day, but they certainly landed a great fish tale!)
After high school, Bill continued his education at Georgia State University where he was an esteemed member of the international fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha.
While at Georgia State, Bill worked part-time in the advertising department of Rich’s Department Store. A trusted employee, one of Bill’s fondest tasks was extinguishing all of the store’s interior lights in preparation for the annual Rich’s Great Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.
Before even receiving his Bachelor of Visual Arts degree from the University, Bill was recruited and hired by a local advertising agency who recognized his skills and abilities. His career in graphic design quickly excelled. Soon he was the Art Director of a major clothing manufacturer creating their familiar logo, graphic materials and national ad campaigns. As his career continued to soar, however, his personal satisfaction waned and he searched for more meaningful purpose and goals. Accepting a friend’s invitation to attend a church service, Bill’s life was so deeply impacted by the love of Christ that he dedicated his life to the Lord and began regularly attending church services and Bible studies. In 1972, Bill sensed a call to totally devote himself to a career promoting Christian ministries, musicians, church/para-church organizations and companies. It was during his years as a member of the ministry, The Graphic Truth, that he met his future wife. Throughout his distinguished, award-winning career, Bill considered his greatest professional success to be contributing to the success of those he was privileged to serve. He was honored that many of his “clients” became cherished “friends.”
Steadfastness. Integrity. Compassion. Kindness. Wisdom. These words provide but a glimpse into the character of the gentle man whose legacy will be upheld by those he so deeply loved and who follow his example of a well-lived, godly life.
While we do not grieve without hope, Bill’s passing has left a heartbreaking void in the lives of his loving wife of over 47 years, Chris; their adored daughters Sarah Weaver Chaves and her husband, Josiah, of Cumming, Georgia; and Amy Weaver Stancil and her husband, Deke, of Canton, Georgia; as well as beloved grandchildren Christian Chaves, Morgan Stancil, Landen Stancil and Romie Chaves.
Also surviving Bill are his younger sister, Janice Weber and her husband, Mark, of Ellijay, Georgia; several cousins and the many dear friends and associates Bill devoted himself to.
